Super Eagles of Nigeria assistant captain, Moses Simon, has emphasized that the Nigerian national football team will be well-prepared to counter any tactical approaches Libya may employ in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
During the first leg of the tie at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, October 11, the Libyan team resorted to time-wasting tactics, prompting frustration among the Nigerian players and fans.
Additionally, the North African team expressed dissatisfaction with their treatment by Nigerian officials upon their arrival in the country.
Following the Super Eagles’ 1-0 win over Libya, reports emerged that Libyan authorities have been urged to take stringent measures against the Nigeria National Team.
Despite this, Moses Simon affirmed that the Nigerian team is unfazed and fully equipped to handle any unorthodox tactics or strategies their opponents may employ.
“We are completely prepared to counteract any dark arts or tactics that Libya might try to use,” Simon told reporters in Uyo.
Note that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play the return leg of the tie at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15. They are going into the game as the leaders of Group D, while Libya are sitting at the bottom of the group with just a point in three games.
