Omoyele Sowore, a prominent activist and politician, has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, labeling it as “sadistic” in light of the upcoming arraignment of 75 protesters associated with the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement.

Sowore’s remarks came ahead of the scheduled court appearance on November 1, 2024, before Justice Egwuatu of the Abuja Federal High Court.

In a statement posted on X, Sowore highlighted the grave situation facing the protesters, many of whom are minors, who have reportedly spent 80 days in detention without trial.

He stated, “The sadistic regime of @officialABAT is set to prosecute 75 individuals affiliated with the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement on treason charges.Several of these individuals—several of them minors—have spent 80 days in unjust incarceration before the sham trial is to commence.”

The protests, which took place from August 1 to August 10, aimed to address the widespread hardship affecting Nigerians.

However, they were marred by violence as hoodlums infiltrated the demonstrations, leading to clashes and vandalism. Security forces responded by arresting numerous protesters.
