Super Eagles Stars, Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong have been shortlisted for the 2023 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s Player of the Year award.
The two Nigerian stars will compete against Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Cote d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, and Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy for the prestigious title, which recognizes the best male footballer on the continent.
Lookman played a key role in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League success last season, securing a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
The 27-year-old winger also impressed for the Nigerian national team, scoring three goals in seven matches during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Troost-Ekong, on the other hand, was named the best player at the 2023 AFCON, where he scored three goals and captained Nigeria to a runner-up finish.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16, 2023.

The awards recognize exceptional achievements in both club and national football, with the prestigious titles of CAF African Player of the Year for both men and women being the focal point of the event.
