Southampton are set to appoint Ivan Jurić as their new head manager, succeeding Russell Martin, who was recently dismissed following a disappointing 5-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

This development was shared by renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via a post on his X account on Friday, December 20.

According to Romano’s update, Southampton and coach Martin have reached an agreement, and the formal contract is expected to be signed today, marking a swift resolution to Southampton’s managerial search.

Romano also noted that a verbal agreement has already been established regarding the contract terms for Jurić, indicating a mutual understanding moving forward.

Currently, the club is collaborating to finalize exit arrangements with AS Roma, Jurić’s former club, which will allow him to make the transition to Southampton smoothly.
Romano confirmed the news with a post stating, “Southampton have agreed a deal to appoint Ivan Jurić as new head coach to replace Russell Martin. Contract set to be signed today.”

This move comes on the heels of a turbulent period for Southampton, who parted ways with Martin just days after the heavy loss to Spurs.

Under Martin’s leadership, the team had seen a resurgence last season, earning promotion to the Premier League. However, recent results had prompted the club to seek a new direction, making the appointment of Jurić a pivotal moment in their campaign.
