Africans and their wahala sha. Whilst the world rest of the world is taking giant strides in global development, Africans can’t even boast of a credible election. Who do us laidis, ehn?
Flashback: so prior to Ugandan elections, a young, vibrant singer-turn-politician, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, made a bold move – he stood to contest for the presidency against longstanding Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni.
18 Months Old Baby Under House Arrest!
Fast forward: Since the election, Wine has been under house arrest by the Ugandan military, five days now and still counting. In his recent post on his twitter page, Wines major concern seem to be over the 18months old niece of his wife who happens to be with them. They’ve run out of food and milk and her dad has been refused access to her. OK, this one no fresh at all!
Only yesterday, US ambassador to Uganda, Natalie E. Brown, had also been denied access to Mr Wine. It’s like the Ugandan government is trying to frustrate this young man’s life by making his residence an “out of bound" location.
In case you dinor hear, Uganda’s just concluded election was marked by gross harassment of opposition’s candidate and supporters, media suppression as well as a national internet shutdown. Shey it sounds like African something bah? Tor!
Unfortunately, amidst the rancour, Yoweri Museveni had been declared winner of the polls last Saturday, making it his sixth tenure as the president of Uganda. This one is a clear case of “na only im waka come".
Bobi’s stance so far remains resolute. He has made it known that he doesn’t accept the result of the election and that he’s still speaking up because he knows what he’s doing is moral.
Bobi, keep doing you! Las las, you’ve set a pace for other young aspiring Africans to follow.
