As the excitement builds for the 2024 CAF Africa Player Award, Cameroon international Flavien Enzo Boyomo has endorsed Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman as the frontrunner for the men’s best player award.

Earlier this year, Ademola Lookman made headlines by becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in a European club competition final during Atalanta’s victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

His remarkable achievement during the 2023-2024 season has garnered significant support from teammates, fans, and stakeholders following the announcement of the final shortlist for the CAF Player of the Year award.

Boyomo has joined those rallying behind Lookman, expressing his belief that the Nigerian forward will secure the prestigious honor when the winner is revealed at the CAF Awards 2024 on December 16.

Lookman faces strong competition from notable talents such as Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Algeria’s Amine Gouiri, Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.

Despite the formidable contenders, Boyomo remains optimistic about Lookman’s chances.

In an interview with Actu Cameroon, the football star said, “I believe Lookman will win the African Ballon d’Or. His success in the Europa League and his overall performance make him a strong candidate for the trophy this year.”

Lookman’s nomination reflects an exceptional season in which he emerged as one of Europe’s most prolific attacking players during the latter part of the 2023/24 campaign, contributing 14 goals (eight goals and six assists) from April onwards—the highest among players in Europe’s top five leagues.

His outstanding performances peaked in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, where he scored a historic hat-trick, helping him achieve a remarkable total of 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.

Continuing his impressive streak this season, Lookman has already tallied nine goals and five assists in just 16 appearances for Atalanta.
