Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has appealed to Nigerian youths to embrace dialogue and drop August’s planned protest.

Governor Dapo Abiodun said the federal government understands the concerns of the Nigerian youths on the situation of the country.

Governor Dapo said his administration, in his state, has been putting measures in place to address challenges and include youths in the state government.

Ogun State governor said this while speaking with the leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and other youth organizations in the state, on Wednesday.

He said the importance of addressing issues through constructive dialogue and civic engagement and not protest cannot be overemphasized.

We urge our youth to opt for dialogue over protests, which are being encouraged by unidentified groups.

“Our administration is dedicated to including young people in governance, having appointed many into key roles and creating opportunities through initiatives like the job portal and local content law.

“We have also established separate ministries for sport development and youth development to better address specific needs. We are in the process of appointing a new Commissioner for Youth Development, ensuring that our youth have a strong voice in the government,” he said.

Governor Dapo added, “We understand that there are concerns and criticisms, particularly on social media, but we remain committed to our development agenda. Objective criticism is welcome, as it helps us improve our services to the state.

“We are confident that together, through dialogue and collaboration, we can address the issues facing our state and continue to build a better future for all.”
