With a name as unique as his sound, Osasike Bobby Uwuigbe decided to make something special out of the struggles he faced as a child in Benin, being the son of a carpenter.
Three years into his professional music career as he is being unveiled as the newest artist on the Etins Records roster, Hammerboi wears his heritage proudly as he joins a stable that has produced so many stars before him like Victor AD, Morien and Yarden.
Born on February 17th in Benin City, Edo State, the multi-talented Hammerboi began his career as a music producer in Benin City before transitioning into a songwriter and vocalist.
His father’s profession is not the only nod to his heritage in his music, Hammerboi prominently infuses the local Bini language of the Edo people into his music, evident on hits such as “Edamwen” and “Sunobu.”
A two-track song pack containing Edamwen (Love Letter) and “Amenze” released on the 26th of September, 2024 lit the path for his rise to the mainstream music scene. From the snippet for “Edamwen” going viral on TikTok to the project amassing over 500,000 streams across all streaming platforms, it was evident that Hammerboi had come to stay.
His remix of the classic Edo song Ighodefeyi by Benin legend Osayomore Joseph also helped to put Hammerboi on the map, as he got a stamp of approval from the legendary singer and critics.
The ladies loved his soulful voice, tender melodies, and the deep expressions of love in his lyrics, and in no time the industry began noticing. A European tour and co-signs from industry veterans followed and next was a record deal. Meet Etins Records’ latest signee Hammerboi.
