Victor Osimhen has explained the reason behind his substitution during Galatasaray’s 3-3 home draw against Kasimpasa.

The Nigerian forward scored twice in the first half of the exciting match, but after the break, he was replaced by Dries Mertens, sparking concerns that he might have suffered an injury that could sideline him.

Victor Osimhen later addressed these concerns, clarifying that he felt only slight discomfort during the game.

The 25-year-old said, “I do not have a serious injury. I felt a little discomfort and thought it was best to inform my coach. If I stayed on the field and wasn’t able to give my best, it could have affected the team’s performance. I didn’t want to see my teammates’ efforts go to waste, so I spoke to Mauro and the coach, and that’s why I left the game.”

Galatasaray, who had held a three-goal lead, eventually allowed Kasimpasa to stage a comeback and settle for a draw. Despite his two goals, Victor Osimhen was disappointed with the result.

We’re all unhappy as a team. We deserved the three points, but football can be unpredictable. Sometimes you play well and don’t get the result you want,” Osimhen shared.

I’m happy to have scored my first two goals for the club, but the draw is frustrating. We need to work harder and focus on winning the next match. I was satisfied with my own performance, but we all need to do better in the upcoming games.”
