Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has reflected on his team’s performance so far this season and the competitive landscape of the Premier League, noting that their defeat to Liverpool in last season’s Carabao Cup final highlighted the Reds’ experience and strength.

As Chelsea head into the festive season, they currently sit in a commendable second position on the English Premier League table. While Enzo Maresca has been cautious in his title aspirations, the 44-year-old Italian tactician remains optimistic about his team’s current standing.

In his pre-match interview ahead of the Boxing Day clash between Chelsea and Fulham at Stamford Bridge at 4 p.m., Maresca said, “It’s significant that we are second in the league, particularly not just after a handful of games; this position reflects our consistent performance.

“Liverpool has been remarkable since the beginning of the season, showcasing the depth of their squad and their ability to handle pressure, which is crucial in these moments.”

He added, “Reflecting on last year’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, it was clear that their players had far more experience in high-stakes situations. This experience plays a vital role in team dynamics, especially during critical moments in the league, but we’re pleased with our progress.”
