A few weeks ago, we were excited to hear that, Nollywood’s submission for the Oscars “The Milk Maid” was accepted! Since then we have been expectant waiting for the nomination list to drop.
A Nigerian movie has never been nominated for the Oscars so you know where the excitement and anticipation is coming from. Sadly the nomination list for the category “International Feature Film” is out and Nigeria’s submission didn’t make the list.
Only two movies from Africa made the nominations, from Tunisia- “ The Man Who Sold His Skin” and Ivory Coast- “Night of Kings” both movies are intense and honestly deserve the nominations. Other movies on the list are from countries like France, Denmark, Iran, etc.
Compared to where Nollywood was before, we are doing well! And hopefully, very soon we will have an Oscar to our name.
