The referee association in the Premier League have announced one of the most controversial referees, Anthony Taylor for the league for the game between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

The announcement which was made by the body on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, has sparked concerns among the supporters of both sides especially those of Chelsea Football Club. The last time Anthony Taylor was in charge of a game involving the Blues was against Bournemouth which saw the players of both sides receive 14 yellow cards ( six for the Cherries and eight for the Blues).

The major controversial game that involved Chelsea was against Tottenham during the 2021/22 season when Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte were in charge of both teams respectively.

Anthony Taylor will referee Tottenham vs Chelsea on Sunday, December 8, 2024, with Jarred Gillett on VAR. The last time both sides met at the White Hart Lane, it was a show of Nicolas Jackson as he scored four goals against 10 man Spurs.
