Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded for being the first person to create a YouTube channel which hit one million subscribers within the first hour of its launching.

Recall that Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the most followed human being on Instagram and one of the most followed people on X finally launched his YouTube channel on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

There are reports that the video-sharing platform refused to allow Ronaldo to open a channel on the platform due to fears that the platform might not be able to keep up with the revenue the channel would generate for him.

After a long wait, the 39-year-old Portuguese footballer and the video-sharing platform finally reached an agreement which allowed the former Real Madrid star to launch his channel.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner calls the YouTube channel UR. Cristiano and refers to his subscribers as SIUUUbscribers, a coinage from the legendary Siuuu sound he makes whenever he celebrates a goal.

Being the most followed human being on earth in terms of his total number of social media followers, Ronaldo’s YouTube channel was quick to hit one million subscribers in one hour and 12 million subscribers in less than 12 hours.

This breaks the record set by K-Pop star Jennie Kim whose YouTube channel hit one million subscribers within seven hours.

Hence, the video-sharing platform had to honour Cristiano Ronaldo with a Golden Play Button, which he flaunted on all his social media platforms in the presence of his children.

In the caption, the Al Nassr of Saudi Pro League striker wrote: “A present for my family ❤️ Thank you to all the SIUUUbscribers!”

Note that as of 12:08 p.m. (Nigerian time), less than 24 hours since the UR. Cristiano’s YouTube channel was launched, the channel has hit 18 million subscribers.
